NYC Pride

Today I stood in Greenwich Village on Christopher Street and watched a pride parade go by days after the state of New York legalized marriage equality. If my Sniper aviators are smudged, it must be because of my shirt or something.

Man, I can only imagine what that must have been like. ^____^ (I'm kinda glad I didn't go with you and Z, because I ended up having a borderline migraine and meltdown yesterday, and I did manage to get some art done, but still. <3)

The crowds were crushing, too, and all the walking would've been crazy painful; it was crazy painful for me and a car accident has never nearly taken my life. Also, you wouldn't have been able to see jack shit over the crowd. Seriously, Z and I were about the shortest tolerable height to spy anything. :P But the atmosphere was amazing, I've never been around so much queer pride and defiance in one place -- I'm glad you had the time and space to rest and recuperate on your own, and I wish there'd been a less strenuous avenue to experience the moment!

For me it was also watching a little bus full of white-haired old people riding through the parade in the middle of the marchers and the floats of bronzed young dancers -- they were all queer, too old to actually walk in the march, but still there. I had to wonder how long they'd waited to see this happen.
