AHAHA YOU = ME SOMETIMES, when I watched the original FMA anime I was like "I wonder what all the fuss is about Roy M -- ... ... ♥" Jaime has stuff in common with Roy, though is definitely a less brooding/fiery/idealistic and more cynical/outwardly devil-may-care/self-hating person, in that Roy is still trying to make a difference in the world and Jaime has given up on the world being something you can make a difference in. Obviously I totally recommend the books, as you'll probably have like, two years otherwise before you get to the Jaime-is-a-main-character season; plus they're just nifty and fantastic overall and are less problematic than the series in some major ways. And Ned Stark is a better book character than he is in the screen portrayal. And yeah.
