The rich-text editor sucks in general, whether it's on LJ or DW. There's a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox called Lazarus that automagically saves whatever you type in an input field -- it has saved my butt countless times when posting in a forum or commenting on a journal. RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY.
