Yeah, I don't know what the hell they're doing with Dany, personally. I'd rather them flub Jon than Dany, because Dany's got a lot more storyline pertinence for quite some time. I just wish I knew what was going on in the director's chair here, so to speak -- surely you can't even only read GoT and not realize that Dany is a major viewpoint character and a main mover-and-shaker in the metaplot of the entire series.

Personally, I don't know what the hell they're doing with Renly either. I suspect they're just using him to contrast whatever else they want to contrast about some other character -- Loras, Robert -- and his personality is like a House student doctor right now as a result. It's going to undercut when he needs to be like "hi, Cat, meet my RAINBOW GUARD!!!"
